Course Details

Who is the test for:

This Experience worker entrance test is designed for experienced electricians who need their underpinning technical knowledge verified to progress onto the level 3 electrotechnical Experience worker assessment ( EWA) route without a level 2 technical qualification. It provides a formal, industry recognised way to validate prior leaning and enables progression to competence status via completion of the electrotechnical Experienced worker assessment (EWA) qualification.

Candidate requirements:

Candidates must be vetted by AET via a skill scan, this is then formally approved by TESP. The centre ( AET) must validate the candidates eligibility for the test. If the candidate is believed to be suitable to take the test, then AET must submit the overview & candidate application to TESP for approval.

Please note: This assessment is not intended for:

  • New Entrance to the electrical industry
  • Apprentices or other trainees
  • Individulas with limited experience in the electrical industry

Duration and Costs

Test booking dates: This test can only be booked in the months of February, May, July, September and November: Once you have enroled then you have 30 days to pass this exam having a maximum of three attempts:

  • Charge rate per attempt: £175.00 inc VAT

This is a Level 3 test which features electrical design-based questions and science and principles, including three-phase theory calculations.

TEST COVERAGE

To pass the test you will need to demonstrate breadth and depth of knowledge and understanding coveringall the areas listed below. Your training provider will verify your knowledge and understanding before theyrecommend that you be approved to take the test:

  • How relevant legislation applies in the workplace
  • The procedures for establishing a safe working environment
  • The requirements for identifying and dealing with hazards in the work environment
  • How to prepare for the installation of wiring systems
  • The practices and procedures for carrying out electrical work
  • The characteristics and applications of supply systems and consumer’s equipment
  • Earthing and protection
  • The relationship between resistance, resistivity, voltage, current, and power
  • How different electrical properties can affect electrical circuits, systems, and equipment
  • The operating principles of electrical components (the Domestic test covers the principles and applications ofheating systems instead)
  • The applications of wiring systems
  • Electrical systems and circuits
  • The electrical design procedure
  • The requirements for completing the safe isolation of electrical circuits and installations
  • The requirements for the safe testing and commissioning of electrical installations
  • Application of BS 7671 and the IET On-Site Guide
