City and Guilds 2396 Level 4 Award in the Design and Verification of Electrical Installations (City & Guilds 2396) assessment and verification is in line with best practice, and that it takes account of any national or legislative developments.

Candidate entry requirements: City and Guilds does not set entry requirements for this qualification. However, Before undertaking this qualification candidates should seriously consider undertaking the Level 3 Award in Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations (2391-50) and/or Level 3 Award in the Periodic Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations (2391-51) as well as obtaining industry experience. It is also strongly recommended that candidates have achieved either the City and Guilds Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (BS7671) (2382) or similar qualifications where candidates have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the 18th edition in order to ensure they have every opportunity of achieving this qualification.

This qualification helps to develop the essential, up-to-date knowledge and techniques needed to professionally design and install or inspect and test electrical systems.

INSPECTION AND TESTING PATHWAYS This is based upon candidates having industry experience inclusive of BS7671 17th Edition wiring regulations

2391-50 Inspection & Testing – Pathway for candidates wanting to achieve Inspection & Testing on domestic & 3 phase installation on NEW Industrial & commercial build only
2391-51 Inspection & Testing – Pathway for candidates wanting to achieve Periodic Inspection & Testing on domestic / Industrial & commercial builds
2391-50 / 2391-51 Combined Inspect & Testing – This course is more for candidates who have only limited experience in Inspection & Testing but increasing there chances in passing
